Walking rambles, not the inane diatribe of an old codger, and the pictures that resulted. First a view of the river Thames and the modern shapes of buildings now adorning the area of the "City of London". The "Walkie Talkie", actually 20 Fenchurch St, then "The Cheese Grater", actually 122 Leadenhall Building, the tallest in the City, and finally the one that started off the process of nicknames "The Gherkin", actually St Mary Axe. The Albert Memorial, in Hyde Park, facing the area nick named "Albertopolis", the area of South Kensington, that contains the Albert Hall, the Royal Colleges of Art,Music and Organists, The Royal Geographical Society, Imperial College and the Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert museums. Parts of St Katherines Docks, with historic sail ships in stark contrast to the millionaire play toys. The pictures also show the contrast between buildings, conservation of the old dockside property in with to the modern high buildings in the distance. Whilst at the Guards Museum, we witnessed musicians of the Scots Guards preparing to have a group photo taken. Could they be going out on tour, to beg for charity, to raise much needed monies to buy more military equipment?
