Stowford Farm is an extensive business operation, well and truly hidden away in this corner of North Devon. Yes, there is a rather large sign at the entrance off the main road, but no visible sign of the establishment until you've travelled a mile or so, descending into a valley, before you see any sign of this huge operation. A large area, covering, I would guess several 100 acres, split into camping, caravanning/motorhomes, statics, bungalows/ holiday cottages. With a site this big it offers numerous activities from indoor swimming, putting and crazy golf, a pet centre and cafe/restaurant. David, our rally marshall, had succesfully organised that we were on a nice level grassy field and very well isolated from the rest of the site activity. We did make use, all of us, of the restaurant facility, which despite being overwhelmed by our number, plus other occupants from site, served up a very enjoyable meal. I nearly forgot they also sell new and second hand caravans and motorhomes and operate a small but handy accessory shop also. We only made use of the restaurant on the one occasion organised by David, and one round of crazy golf one afternoon, after we had looked at the caravans that the site had to offer, not that we had any intentions to purchase. An excellent pitch, with our fellow Waggoners all around us, with the exception of Darryl & Diane, who, sadly had to be located on the adjacent section of the field. I don't think that as individuals we would have chosen to use the site, it was way to big and I would imagine in the season very noisy, with numerous impromptu ball games appearing on part vacant pieces of grass, irrespective of the vans in the vicinity.
