Napoleonic Wars

By chance, in speaking to Pat Winters we ended up on Saturday morning in Bingham. At the Gallery, which Pat and Vic attend; it doubles as gallery and spiritualist church, there was to be a Napoleonic day, with talks on the subject and members of a re-enactment group in period uniform. Many other side line events planned as well as a cafe serving drinks and lunches.

Above:Part of the re-enactment. Members of the 21e Regiment d'Infanterie de ligne 1er Compagnie association as extremely realistic Napoleonic Soldiers. They are a French Napoleonic re-enactment regiment and dress to the period of 1812 to 1815. This is a time the French Napoleonic Empire was at its peak, it also covers the end of an era at Waterloo.

Above:Capitaine Adjutant-major. We arrived to late to hear the first talk, but I did sit in on the second, which despite being poorly presented, the topic, local soldiers who fought at Waterloo, was interesting. Sadly the lack of experience, or confidence, not sure which, detracted somewhat from the content. I also suffered from sitting between two obvious "know alls", who constantly gave glances between each other, when ever they agreed or more times disagreed with what the speaker was impartng to his audience.Equally sad, was the fact that the talk dragged on, with the audience trying to outscore each other on their superior knowledge of the subect.
