A topic on which I suppose I've had a fleeting interest but never fully pursued. I think the early dabble trying to trace dads army history, which lead nowhere and cost money, put me off. Stephen, my cousin, had done a tremendous amount of work, and obviously had the flair for it, firstly tracing from my mums side, the Baverstock heritage, on which he supplied us with reams of facts - dates and other relevant information, relating to my mums relatives, even including links through marriages. He followed that up some time later with work he had done on Pam's Dear Dad" book, a "from me to you" journal, which Joanne brought me some years back and I have never got around to completeing. She bought one for Pam also. The book is a means of recording information about yourself, your life, achievements - failures and history about your family. Part of the information required was a family tree, so out comes Stephens fine work and then I needed a means of recording it in tree form, so that I could include this into the book. Hence, thats how I came to log on to "MyHeritage" web site who were offering a free "make a tree" download, well it started off free, and began to feed data I knew myself about close relatives and then set too and started to feed in the reams of data supplied by Stephen. The work was fascinating and sometimes frustrating, trying to maintain accuracy of my input from the number of links that Stephen had un-earthed. You don't realise the paths that your Great, Great, Great, Grandfather laid, from his children, then through their inevitable marriages, then through their children and so on and so on. For Stephen the work must have been fascinating as one relatives name opens up further links to pursue and determine. In March I'm still inputting the data supplied by Stephen into the family tree and will probably be doing so into April, to ensure after cross checking that the data is correct. I then intend through MyHeritage site to start to trace the Turner history, having paid a substantial fee, for the privilige, which I feel has equally as many twist and turns ahead of me. I did create a tree of sufficient information to include in Jo's book.
