WCC Rally Ripon - September

Our second and last trip for 2020 in our new marvelous van was to join the Waggoners at a rally at Ripon a location not previously visited.  Still Covid conscious the rally went well with all social meetings being held outdoors with all attendees keeping social distance. Thankfully, the weather played its part especially in the evenings, and kept dry if a little chilly.

Pam and I made full use of the rally paying several visits to Ripon, admiring the cathedral and the spectacular central display in the roof of the aisle. We had contemplated visits to Harrogate and Knaresborough but due to the volume of traffic around Harrogate, we only made it to Knaresborough. Thank fully that we did we enjoyed several hours touring and eating in the town taking the customary visitor pictures of the view from the castle looking down on the River Nidd.

A location we would like to return to in the future to further explore with an earmarked visit to Nidd House high on the priorities list. Sadly, it was closed during our time on the rally.

Van now parked and winterised – roll-on 2021.

On site with the Waggoners on the outskirts, not litterally, of Ripon.

Ripon Cathedral inside which was a display in the roof of paper angels. Litterally 100's creating an amazing display.

Scenes of the railway viaduct crossing the river Nidd at Knaresborough, recreated so incredibly in 00 scale on "The Worlds End" model railway. Named, "The Worlds End", after a local hostelry near to the station.
