RSPB Frampton Marsh

Jacob & I made our first visit, but definitely not our last to RSPB Frampton Marsh on the 8th February 2109.

Our impressions after this visit, an amazing site and one which we must visit again.

The weather as you would expect, on an exposed section of Lincolnshire coast was not the best, but then typical for this time of year, with wind and rain throughout the day. Thank goodness for the excellent facilities that were on offer.

An interesting variety of birds for our observation, the most thrilling a flight pass by a Merlin a first sighting for us both. As could be expected at this time of year, there was a large number of ducks and geese, the most special for me being the sightings of Pintails. A most striking bird well the male at least in their chocolate plumage and the un-mistakable pin straight tail. Not the best day for photography, with a dull overcast sky. However, we did make several attempts and a number of our results are shown below.

We made, for the first time in ages, use of our telescope, which once set up and mastered provided some excellent viewing of the ducks further out on the lagoons. Our day out resulted in the sightings of 23 different species of birds.
