VE 75th Anniversary Street Party - May

May

Having been in lockdown since the instructions to isolate were first laid down a slight relaxation was allowed, with the exercise of suitable care and caution, to outwardly celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day, victory in Europe, the day that the vile, evil and sadistic Germans finally surrendered. The day had been earmarked as a bank holiday and despite the fact that the country, the world, was in the grips of Coronavirus the Government wanted us to proceed with celebrations, outdoor picnics, but to maintain safe social distancing, which thankfully most, not all, complied with.

For our part, the usual friendly, communicative part of Cresta Gardens, that is, took part by setting up picnic areas outside on the front, maintaining effective distancing but still able to join in with the event. It was an enjoyable day with other participating folks walking up and down the road, holding safe distance conversations, and generally making the afternoon one to remember. One to help take away some of the surrounding the gloom of Covid 19, (as the virus had been labeled), that sadly prevailed the country.
