Orlando Eye

A new feature in Orlando,at least to Pam and I, as it only opened in 2015, to which courtesy of Attraction Tickets Direct, from who we purchased all of our park tickets, we were able to experience for free. Now called the Coca Cola Orlando Eye, its located on International Drive, close to Ripleys on one side and Worlds Wonders building on the other. A new complex has been built up around the eye, with a Madame Tussauds exhibition in another part of the building. Outside the inevitable cafes, bars and restaurants have all sprung up to cater for the visitors. It was surprisingly quiet the day we visited, with only the minimal queue, which we didn't mind as one of the main reasons for the wait was a bridal group, who appeared to be actually being officially matched, whilst on the eye. The views as you would expect spread for miles. We visited on a reasonable clear day, but couldn't make out all of the distant landmarks. You certainly get a very clear idea of how much Orlando has developed, not just the city, but the surrounding areas, huge clusters of buildings are dotted all over the area and not all to accomodate the hoards of visitors that swoop on Orlando each year. There are also a number of large industrial operations, some I would imagine, that have sprung up to cater for the needs of the tourists, but not all. The industrial area directly opposite the eye, hence the number of times it was photographed, no other reason, is a Lockheed Martin plant. The other remaining realisation is the fact that there are still vast amounts of water and trees - much still to be developed?

Another short montage of memories from our time on the Coca Cola Orlando Eye..
